Backend Developer (FHIR)

Job Summary: Develop backend services for an interoperable electronic health record (EHR) platform, applying the HL7 FHIR standard and collaborating on integrations with healthcare systems. Collaboration with clinical specialists Purpose Develop backend services for the interoperable EHR platform, working alongside the current FHIR specialist and progressively building expertise in the HL7 FHIR standard. General Responsibilities * Develop and maintain serverless backend services on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Step Functions, ECS). * Implement REST APIs following documentation standards (OpenAPI). * Progressively learn and apply the HL7 FHIR standard for healthcare interoperability. * Collaborate on integrations with external healthcare systems. * Write unit and integration tests (Jest/Mocha). * Participate in code reviews and maintain technical documentation. * Work with functional analysts and QA teams to validate clinical stories. Requirements Requirements: Node.js \+ TypeScript; Experience with AWS serverless architecture (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, ECS); REST APIs: design, consumption, versioning; Databases: DynamoDB and/or PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB; Testing: Jest or Mocha, basic integration testing. Technical Knowledge: Prior experience with FHIR, HL7, or healthcare standards. EXCLUSIVE: Python for AI module integrations. Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, finance, insurance). Security knowledge: JWT, OAuth2, encryption. Attitudinal Competencies * Genuine willingness to learn a complex domain (healthcare, FHIR) — not just technology. * Ability to work with complex international standards and dense documentation. * Collaboration with clinical teams and functional analysts. * Proactivity in seeking help when blocked (e.g., not spending two days stuck on a bug). * Collaborative profile — will work with a Senior FHIR specialist and must complement their expertise.
