Our client, an innovative scientific research company developing automation and data tools that power next\-generation AI\-driven scientific platforms, is looking for **Senior Data Engineers** to help design, optimize, and scale the integrations bridging the laboratory workflows with the client's goals of developing and demonstrating AI capabilities to perform tasks in different scientific domains to push the boundaries of science. If you're passionate about building scalable data systems, developing intelligent algorithms, and enabling scientists through powerful yet intuitive interfaces, this opportunity is for you. You'll work on building integrations between lab robotics, data pipelines, and Jupyter notebooks — enabling scientists (human and AI) to track, analyze, and optimize experiments in real time. **The key responsibilities of this role will be as follows:** * **Database Design**: Create and implement a paired {protocol: datapoint} SQL database for labware tracking at the well level. * **Algorithm Development**: Design and develop optimization algorithms (ML, Bayesian, and mechanistic) for model\-in\-the\-loop parameter prediction and system performance improvement. * **UI/UX Engineering**: Build GUIs and APIs that empower both human and AI scientists to interact seamlessly with data and models. * **Hardware \& Software Integration**: Develop and integrate software components with hardware and robotic systems, ensuring smooth and reliable operation. * **Collaboration**: Work closely with cross\-functional teams — including developers, hardware engineers, and researchers — to define requirements and deliver cohesive, integrated solutions. * **Documentation**: Maintain detailed technical documentation for database design, integration processes, and modeling results. **The ideal candidate will have the following profile:** * Degree in a **Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field** or equivalent practical experience. * **5\+ years of experience** in data engineering, database design, or algorithm development. * Strong programming skills in **Python**. * Expertise in **SQL** and database architecture. * Proven experience designing and deploying **machine learning** or **optimization algorithms**. * Familiarity with **hardware–software integration**, **scientific instrumentation**, and **data modeling**. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines. **Bonus points for:** * Experience with Bayesian modeling or robotics. * Familiarity with UX for technical users (GUIs, Jupyter notebooks). * Knowledge of CI/CD, cloud deployment, or scientific computing tools. **Benefits** * Fully remote work * Fixed monthly compensation in USD * Full\-time, long\-term contract * Paid Time Off (PTO) \& Paid Local National Holidays
