Description

Job Summary: We are looking for a Consumers Founding Engineer who will serve as the technical owner of our end-consumer-facing product — building both the mobile app and backend services. Key Highlights: 1. Key contributor in a dynamic team that ships features to production daily 2. Innovative AI-driven work on architectures and user-value flows 3. Hybrid product and engineering role, with autonomy in solving business problems **Who We Are** **About Fudo** We are a company that combines deep expertise in the foodservice industry with a passion for technology. Every day, we help tens of thousands of restaurants across Latin America improve their operations using our management software, mobile apps, and payments platform. **Fudo is the restaurant’s operating system:** everything a restaurant invoices, collects, purchases, pays for, and sells flows through our system. We are market leaders in Argentina and Chile, with a very significant share of restaurants in each country using our platform, and we’re growing rapidly in Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil. In addition to our software, we process payments under our own license in three countries. We grow quickly — and sustainably: we fund our growth through our own operations, not external investment rounds. This allows us to make long-term strategic decisions. **About the Team** Our mission is to simplify life for the restaurants that partner with us. A core part of this value proposition is ensuring diners enjoy seamless ordering and reservation experiences at those restaurants. That’s why we launched the Consumers vertical — to focus 100% on how people interact with our products, and to evolve the ones already used by millions of diners. You’ll join a highly dynamic team where we ship features to production every day. It’s common to start the day with an idea, align on a design with the team, and deploy that functionality to production before lunch. We move fast, with minimal bureaucracy, enabled by the engineering processes and systems we’ve built to support that speed. We automate all repetitive and operational tasks with AI. We’re obsessed with discovering new ways of working that give us more time to think deeply and design architectures, user flows, and features that deliver real value to our users. **Role Description** We’re seeking a Consumers Founding Engineer: a strong backend and mobile engineer who wants to be the technical owner of our end-consumer-facing product — from the app all the way down to the database. This is as much a product role as it is an engineering one. There’s no pre-defined backlog waiting for you. Instead, there’s a business problem, hypotheses to validate, and open-ended scope decisions. You’ll be involved in those conversations from day one — not receiving finalized outcomes. The technical challenge is twofold. On the mobile side: building a mass-consumer product — frequent releases, performance on real devices, notifications, payments, and an intuitive experience requiring no manual. On the backend side: supporting that product with a multi\-tenant platform designed specifically for restaurants — with all the implications around identity, permissions, privacy, and performance. We expect you to operate autonomously, responsibly, and with commitment — while also being an active, collaborative member of a high-performing team. You should be a technical reference point and raise the bar for how Fudo builds consumer-facing products. **Responsibilities** * Build the end-consumer-facing product end-to-end: the mobile app and the backend services powering it. * Design the consumer-facing API on a restaurant-focused multi\-tenant platform: identity model, permissions, and privacy. * Define and own the client-side tech stack: what runs cross\-platform, what belongs in embedded web, and what must be native. * Manage the mobile release cycle: builds, App Store and Play Store submissions, feature flags, gradual rollouts, crash\-free rate, and cold-start times. * Model and build the product’s data layer: schemas, indexes, query performance, and integrations with existing services. * Instrument and measure: product analytics, conversion funnels, activation, and retention. Use usage data to decide the next iteration. * Work daily with Claude Code and agents, and define how they’re effectively applied in a user-facing product: what to delegate, and what to review manually. * Translate product vision into deliverable scope, sprint by sprint. **What We Expect From You** **Minimum Requirements (Mandatory)** * **Production mobile applications.** Mandatory. Apps published and actively maintained on the App Store and Play Store, with real users. You must be able to describe how you managed releases, versioning, crashes, and performance on low-end devices. * **Daily work with code agents.** Mandatory. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or equivalent — fully integrated into your development workflow. You must be able to explain what you delegate to them, what you don’t, how you review their output, and how they’ve changed your judgment. * Strong backend skills: 5\+ years building and maintaining production services, with sound judgment around design, testing, and operations. Ruby is our preferred backend language. * Strong database skills: relational modeling, advanced SQL, indexing, query analysis and tuning. We use PostgreSQL. * API design for mobile clients: versioning, backward compatibility, compact payloads, pagination, synchronization, and behavior under poor connectivity. * Product mindset: ability to collaborate across teams to uncover problems, propose solutions, and evaluate their effectiveness. * Autonomy amid ambiguity: experience building something where scope wasn’t predefined — and you defined it yourself. **Desirable Requirements** * **Flutter and Dart in production.** This is our mobile stack. * **Experience with consumer-facing products.** B2C apps with scale, where conversion, retention, and onboarding were your metrics — not someone else’s. * Ruby in production, in any flavor: Rails, or lighter stacks like Cuba and Sequel. * Design sensibility: experience working closely with designers, and caring deeply about how your work looks and feels. * Payments: checkout, tokenization, wallets, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and LATAM PSPs (Mercado Pago and similar). * Native capabilities: push notifications, deep links, camera and QR, maps and geolocation. * Judgment on hybrid shells: Hotwire Native, React Native, or embedded web — and knowing when each is the right choice. * Growth and experimentation: A/B testing, feature flags, product analytics. * Marketplaces or two-sided products. * Experience with other B2B SaaS platforms. **Benefits** * Be a key player within the team — driving improvements and continuously learning from a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented team. * Internationally competitive salaries and benefits. * Remote or hybrid work in a relaxed, comfortable environment at our Buenos Aires offices. * Local holidays \+ birthday leave \+ paid vacation days. * In-house English / Portuguese training. * Wellhub (ex-Gympass) plan coverage for gym access or other physical activities. * Additional perks through partnerships with other companies.
