The **Associate Design Engineer** is an entry-level position designed for individuals interested in developing their skills and growing professionally toward a senior engineering role. In this role, you will support senior engineers on large-scale projects by performing foundational tasks such as preparing bills of materials (BOM), collaborating on design reviews, and organizing project documentation.
This role emphasizes learning and professional development, providing hands-on experience in audiovisual (AV) system design and project workflows.
Local Engineering Managers will provide supervision, while other engineers will offer mentorship to support your professional growth. While this position does not involve direct client interaction, you will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure designs are accurate, properly documented, and aligned with project objectives.
Attention to detail, organizational skills, and a strong willingness to learn are essential for success in this role. The **Associate Design Engineer** establishes the foundation for developing high-quality designs that meet client and project team expectations.### **Daily Responsibilities**
**Pre-sales Design and Proposal Development**
* Assist senior engineers in preparing and organizing bills of materials for projects.
* Identify and estimate all required cabling, infrastructure, and miscellaneous materials.
* Review and update design documentation, such as Statements of Work (SOWs) or Design Portfolios.
* Support design activities by creating system diagrams and layouts using CAD or other design tools.
* Collaborate on equipment research and coordinate with vendors as needed.
**Project-related Responsibilities**
* Organize project documentation, including infrastructure requirements and design standards.
* Collaborate with internal teams—including Engineering and Project Management—to ensure design accuracy and integrity, serving as the point of contact for design reviews.
* Maintain organized records of materials and project modifications to facilitate efficient workflows.
**Development-related Responsibilities**
* Diligently follow the learning plan while balancing engineering support activities.
* Participate in mentorship activities to develop technical knowledge and skills.
* Learn and apply company standards for system design and documentation.
* Perform tasks, assume responsibilities, and participate in additional projects as needed to support the team and organization—demonstrating flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and goals.

### **Preferred Qualifications**
* Basic knowledge of audiovisual (AV) or IT systems is preferred but not required.
* Academic background in Electronics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
* Familiarity with industry standards such as AVIXA (CTS certification), ANSI/TIA, or similar.
* Basic knowledge of AV systems, IT networks, or related technologies.
* Experience with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu) or other design software.
* Prior experience in AV projects, including installation or support tasks.
* Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, such as Engineering, Project Management, or vendors.
* Strong interest in emerging AV technologies and their applications.
* **1–2 years of experience in AV system installation, technical service, commissioning, or similar functions** is preferred.
