Drive continuous improvement in database operations We are looking for a **Lead Database Administrator** to own the reliability, security, and performance of SQL database environments while supporting cloud migration efforts. You will partner with cross\-functional teams to prevent incidents, streamline operations through automation, and drive continuous improvement. Apply to help keep mission\-critical data platforms running smoothly. **Responsibilities** * Administer Microsoft SQL Server environments to ensure stable daily operations * Ensure database availability, reliability, and security through proactive controls * Monitor database health, capacity, and performance metrics to detect issues early * Resolve incidents related to failures, connectivity problems, and performance degradation * Optimize queries, indexes, stored procedures, and database design to reduce bottlenecks * Manage upgrades and patching to keep platforms secure and supported * Own backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures and validate them through testing * Implement high\-availability and disaster recovery solutions to meet RTO/RPO targets * Build monitoring and alerting to improve observability and response times * Automate routine administration tasks using scripts for maintenance and reporting * Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures for recurring issues * Maintain operational documentation and knowledge articles for support readiness * Support teams with database best practices and guidance for new changes * Coordinate with application and infrastructure teams to improve end\-to\-end efficiency **Requirements** * 5\+ years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments * 5\+ years of experience supporting SQL database operations, maintenance, and monitoring * Lead\-level ownership of database reliability, availability, and security outcomes * Strong incident management skills for troubleshooting outages and service disruptions * Proven project support experience for upgrades, patches, integrations, and database changes * Advanced performance tuning skills for query, index, stored procedure, and schema optimization * Strong backup and recovery expertise including validation and disaster recovery testing * Hands\-on automation skills for scripting health checks, maintenance, and reporting * Strong analytical skills for root cause analysis and preventive actions * Clear communication skills to advise teams on database standards and best practices * English proficiency: B2 Upper\-Intermediate **We offer** * International projects with top brands * Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers * Healthcare benefits * Employee financial programs * Paid time off and sick leave * Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses * Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000\+ courses * Global career opportunities * Volunteer and community involvement opportunities * EPAM Employee Groups * Award\-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn
