Each person on our team is essential; therefore, we prioritize building a culture rooted in empathy, transparency, enthusiasm, and commitment. **About the Team** The Core Experience team is a dynamic, multidisciplinary group composed of professionals from IT, Product, and UX. As part of this squad, you will contribute to maintaining and developing new features enabling waitstaff, bar staff, and managers/admins to improve their daily operations—through table management, stock control, financial management, and other functionalities. **Role Description** As a Senior Software Engineer, we expect you to operate autonomously, responsibly, and with commitment—while also being an active, collaborative member of a high-performing team. You should serve as a technical reference and continuously raise the quality bar of our solution. Your responsibilities include participating in code reviews, developing new features, implementing improvements, and maintaining the application. In short, you will work across multiple areas to ensure the application functions effectively and evolves efficiently. Our backend is primarily built in Ruby (but not Rails), our frontend mainly uses React and Angular, and our mobile app is built with Flutter. Therefore, we seek someone experienced in Ruby who is also comfortable programming in other languages. You should understand the full stack—even though most of your time will be spent on the backend. You must know how a database index works (not just what it is), and also how to leverage HTTP caching headers to optimize data transfer, reduce costs, and improve user experience. You should understand the differences between Unicorn and Puma, or among Redis, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. You must know when and why asynchronous request handling is important. **Responsibilities** * Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Ruby. * Ensure the system handles high transaction volumes efficiently while maintaining low latency. * Optimize database queries and caching strategies to improve transaction speed. * Implement security best practices for handling sensitive data. * Write automated unit and integration tests as part of CI/CD pipelines. * Mentor other team members and conduct code reviews to ensure development quality without compromising production deployment agility. * Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting strategies to guarantee high availability and rapid anomaly detection (OpenSearch, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, CloudWatch). * Monitor metrics and alerts to respond quickly and contribute to incident resolution. **What We Expect From You** **Minimum Requirements** * Hold a degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field—or be in your final years of study (Mandatory) * Have at least 5 years of backend development experience. * Possess solid knowledge of API development, design, and usage; familiarity with JSON:API, OpenAPI, and JSON Schema standards is a plus. * Understand internet protocols, especially HTTP, and also TCP, UDP, WebSocket, and other common web development protocols. * Have experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL. * Be proficient with Git beyond basic commands (pull, add, commit, merge, push) and understand the importance of maintaining a clean, clear commit history. **Desirable Requirements:** * Experience with JavaScript and a frontend framework such as React, Angular, Vue, or any other modern frontend framework. * Experience developing on Linux is a significant advantage. **Benefits** * Internationally competitive salaries. * Flexible employment modalities. * Health coverage depending on employment modality. * Remote, in-office, or hybrid work options.
