We are currently looking for a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join our technology team. ### **What will be the main challenges of this role?** * Join the Nebula team—the Despegar Cloud Platform—covering backend and frontend development, as well as open-source tool management. * Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions focused on scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency. * Own the solutions you build—from design and development through production operations and subsequent monitoring. * Be part of a challenging team focused on diverse technologies and areas such as Delivery, Observability, AI, and Resilience. * Reduce the cognitive load of other IT teams by building tools and improving existing ones. * Provide and manage tools enabling deployment and monitoring of all applications developed by Despegar’s IT teams. * Continuously explore new tools and technologies that add value to the platform and Despegar developers, and participate in backlog grooming. * Provide technical support to IT teams. Challenge and support other team members in solving complex problems. ### **What are we looking for?** * At least 5 years of solid software development experience in any backend programming language (we use Golang and Python). * Experience managing production applications or production environments. * Knowledge of container build and orchestration tools. * Experience working with microservice-based architectures. * Experience designing scalable and resilient architectures, including design patterns, distributed systems, and dependency management. * Basic knowledge of at least one Cloud Provider and its associated services. * Basic knowledge of monitoring tools (Logging, Tracing, Metrics, Alerts). * Excellent communication skills to clearly explain complex technical concepts and author technical documentation—including architecture proposals and specifications. ### **Nice to have:** * AWS experience is a plus—particularly with services such as EC2, RDS, and EKS. * Knowledge of AI tools (LLMs, Agents, MCP, etc.). * Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos, Tempo, Loki, OpenTelemetry, etc. * Knowledge of CI/CD or delivery tools such as ArgoCD, ArgoWorkflow, GitHub Actions. * Backend development experience using Golang and/or Python. * Frontend development experience with JavaScript (and/or TypeScript), React, and Next.js. * Knowledge of relational databases (MariaDB, RDS, etc.) and non-relational databases (DocumentDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.). **What We Offer** 📌 To be part of an industry-leading company. 📌 To join a team of professionals passionate about traveling the world of technology—and making others’ travel possible. 📌 To integrate into a team that leverages technology as a path to innovation and opportunity resolution. 📌 To build your own career in a competitive and challenging environment.
