**Purpose and Impact of the Role**

The Laboratory Analyst will perform routine analytical and laboratory tests in support of operational and food safety quality teams. Tests conducted include routine in-process and finished product testing, as well as verification and monitoring of instrumentation performance. In this role, you will conduct tests and document test results in databases, and communicate test results verbally and in writing.
**Key Responsibilities**
---------------------------
* Maintain laboratory supplies ready by managing inventory levels, placing orders, and verifying receipt of materials.
* Assist with evaluation and interpretation of highly complex data, identifying issues with atypical test results by consulting senior staff.
* Solve problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting appropriate corrective actions.
* Support assays and experiments under the direction of more senior team members.
* Apply safe laboratory practices to protect yourself and others—checking proper operation of workstations, routinely attending safety meetings, and performing preventive maintenance and calibration of standard, complex equipment and instruments.
* Perform simple and complex routine analyses and analytical tests using internal methodologies aligned with CAN laboratories.
* Responsible for maintaining, recording, and tracking the operational status of equipment and items under your responsibility; liaising with technical service providers.
* Handle complex user support, administrative, technical, or customer service issues under minimal supervision, escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate personnel.
* Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**
------------------
**Minimum**
* Completed or currently pursuing a university or tertiary degree (e.g., Chemistry, Laboratory Science, or related fields).
* Experience in laboratory or similar roles.
* Experience in control activities such as process monitoring within a laboratory setting.
* Intermediate Excel proficiency.
**Preferred**
* Ability to read and interpret documents (e.g., safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals).
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Prior work experience in an animal nutrition laboratory.
* Experience in analyses including Atomic Absorption, NIRS, Dumas, Mycotoxins, Fibers, etc.
* Knowledge of laboratory quality management standards.
