We do not just need someone to record what happened in the past; we need a partner who can look at the numbers and help us engineer a more profitable future. You are a master of the "square in the box" fundamentals, including compliance and meticulous reconciliations, but you possess the analytical mindset to translate those numbers into actionable insights. You should be someone who thinks in systems and strategy, capable of explaining complex financial data to a non\-financial founder in a way that is clear and actionable. ### **Key Responsibilities** * **Full\-Cycle Accounting:** Manage the month\-end close processes, including bank reconciliations, accruals, and the preparation of all financial statements. * **Financial Narratives:** Move beyond the "what" to the "why." You will analyze P\&L trends and provide clear, strategic commentary to leadership. * **Process Innovation:** Audit our current financial workflows and tech stack to eliminate manual entry and improve data integrity. * **Cash Flow Forecasting Support:** Collaborate with the Fractional CFO to maintain forward\-looking cash flow models to assist with project planning, hiring decisions, and investment timing. * **Project Profitability Audit:** Regularly review project\-based margins to ensure labor and material costs align with original estimates. * **Standard Operating Procedures:** Develop and document internal financial controls to ensure the scalability of the accounting department. ### **Required Qualifications** * **Industry Expertise (Non\-Negotiable):** Must have significant experience working with accrual\-based home improvement companies such as Interior Designers, General Contractors, or specialized trade firms. * **US\-Based Experience:** Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience specifically for US\-based companies. You must be intimately familiar with US business structures and protocols. * **The "Vision" Factor:** You are a strategic thinker who looks at systems, not just entries. You have a proven ability to bridge the gap between raw data and executive decision\-making. * **Tech Mastery:** Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (Certified) and modern receipt\-capture/AP automation tools. * **Analytical Rigor:** A proven track record of identifying "leakage" or inefficiencies in a budget and proposing successful pivots. * **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. ### **Additional Information** * **Mindset:** We value "Financial Architects" over historians. * **Communication:** Must be comfortable communicating financial health in a breezy, professional, and jargon\-free manner. * **Technology:** We are a tech\-forward company where an interest in automating manual workflows is essential.
