That’s how we continue to achieve extraordinary things in extraordinary locations. **Job description:** **Biodiversity Superintendent** **Position Objective** Support the development of a mining project by applying technical expertise in biodiversity and ecology to assess, manage, and monitor potential impacts on high-altitude Andean ecosystems. **Key Responsibilities** * Work closely with project managers, infrastructure engineers, geohydrologists, independent environmental consultants, and biodiversity specialists. * Support the development and implementation of a project-specific Biodiversity Management and Monitoring Plan. * Establish and maintain relationships with key biodiversity stakeholders, including: * Provincial and national government authorities. * National park authorities. * Biodiversity-focused NGOs. * Local communities and other stakeholders. * Support collaboration with regulatory agencies, independent technical reviewers, and representatives of funding institutions, as required. * Provide technical expertise to support permitting processes and ensure compliance with funding institution requirements (e.g., IFC Performance Standards). * Develop a revegetation and ecological restoration strategy. **Requirements** * Relevant university degree in Biology or Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, or a related field. * 8–10 years of relevant experience in biodiversity planning, ecological impact assessment, mining, infrastructure, environmental management, or projects funded by financial institutions. * Knowledge of Puna and Andean ecosystems (preferred), including mitigation and compensation strategies. * Familiarity with IFC Performance Standard No. 6, the Equator Principles, or similar international financial institution standards is desirable. * Compliance with local legal requirements for EIA and other related permits. **Key Competencies** * Practical, solution-oriented approach. * Self-motivated and results-driven. * Strong ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams. * Ability to translate ecological risks into practical mitigation and compensation measures. * Clear communication skills (Spanish essential; intermediate English required). * Ability to work in complex project environments with regulatory, technical, social, and financial requirements.
