Description

Position Summary: The Quick Response Center (QRC) Engineer provides technical and engineering assistance to QRC staff, Commercial Operations, Sales Engineers, and customers to develop the best possible repair and/or improvement solutions for aftermarket jobs within the limits of responsibility defined by applicable procedures (CORP\-AMSS\-1058\). Responsible for providing technical interpretation of specifications, procedures, policies, equipment quality, and reliability to stakeholders. Responsibilities: Reviews DCI reports, customer specifications/instructions, and develops a high-level work scope for QRC jobs when required and in accordance with procedure CORP\-AMSS\-1058\. Implements engineering best practices and Flowserve standards such as welding procedures, bolt torque, materials, hydrotesting, etc. Identifies improvement opportunities and supports the development of technical proposals to support such improvements. Coordinates/collaborates with Engineering/Project Engineering departments when non-generic improvements/solutions are appropriate/necessary. Supports technical and commercial justification analysis. Acts as engineering liaison with Project Engineering during order execution phase. Responsible for documenting and communicating design changes initiated by QRC in accordance with applicable procedures and systems. Responsible for reviewing and marking/documenting customer or third-party changes according to applicable procedures and systems. Primary technical contact for witnesses; review of specifications and requirements for site visits. Responsible for failure analysis reports on specific jobs when required. Supports sales in presenting FLS's technical capabilities to customers. Supports QRC on all engineering matters including but not limited to disposition of NCRs, supporting machinists, and assisting shop mechanics during assembly. Provides sketches to facilitate rapid repairs. Other assigned tasks. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and/or 3\+ years of related experience. Intermediate English proficiency (written and spoken) Experience in 3D and 2D design (preferably computer-aided design). Engineering documentation, drafting, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Effective oral and written communication skills Interpersonal collaboration ability Advanced project management tools, methods, and applications Accountability and execution to complete work on time and per specifications Experience with PLM, ERP, and other planning and engineering systems. Fundamentals of machine design Basic knowledge of pump applications and types, clear understanding of hydraulic fundamentals and their relationship to pumps and pumping systems. General knowledge of metallurgical requirements and applications General knowledge of manufacturing processes Ability to interpret industrial standards, technical drawings, and manufacturing procedures. Understanding of Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) methodology Ability to work closely with customers (face-to-face or by phone); strong verbal and written communicator, confident and positive attitude.
