About the Position We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to define and lead the technical foundation of a next\-generation payments platform. This role will be responsible for designing scalable, secure, and event\-driven solutions that support high\-volume ACH transaction processing while ensuring compliance with banking and payment industry standards. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in Java/Spring Boot, cloud\-native AWS architectures, and financial services systems. As the technical authority for the project, you will guide engineering teams, establish architectural standards, evaluate critical design decisions, and ensure that the platform is built for long\-term scalability, security, and operational excellence. Responsibilities * Lead an initial discovery phase to define the overall solution architecture, align technical requirements, and establish engineering best practices. * Design and document a robust Event\-Driven Architecture (EDA) using Java and Spring Boot to support high\-volume payment and ACH processing workflows. * Architect AWS\-native infrastructure that meets PCI\-DSS requirements and bank\-grade security standards while supporting multi\-tenant data isolation. * Define integration patterns and communication strategies between internal payment systems, third\-party platforms, and external transaction processing services. * Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to establish data models, event schemas, and ACH/NACHA processing frameworks. * Review and approve technical decisions across backend, frontend, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and data engineering initiatives. * Provide architectural leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, actively participating in sprint ceremonies and helping unblock technical challenges. * Evaluate security controls, compliance requirements, and risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with business and compliance stakeholders. * Drive architectural governance, ensuring consistency, scalability, maintainability, and operational reliability across all platform components. * Mentor senior engineers and promote engineering excellence through design reviews, technical standards, and best practices. Requirements * 8\+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years serving as a Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect, or similar technical leadership role. * Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot, including microservices architectures and event\-driven design patterns. * Strong experience designing and implementing AWS\-native solutions using services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, SQS, SNS, IAM, VPC, and related technologies. * Proven experience designing secure, scalable systems within financial services environments, including payments, ACH processing, banking platforms, or related domains. * Strong understanding of Event\-Driven Architecture principles, distributed systems, and asynchronous processing patterns. * Experience with PCI\-DSS compliance, SOC 2 requirements, and multi\-tenant data isolation strategies. * Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable and secure technical solutions. * Experience defining API strategies, system integrations, and enterprise architecture standards. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present architectural decisions to both technical and executive audiences. * Strong leadership and decision\-making capabilities in fast\-paced, cross\-functional environments. Nice to Have * Familiarity with NACHA ACH file specifications and ACH payment processing workflows. * Experience integrating with embedded finance platforms, payment gateways, or card issuing APIs. * AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification. * Experience with cloud security frameworks and financial regulatory compliance standards. * Previous experience leading architecture initiatives for fintech, banking, or payments organizations.
