We are currently seeking a **Senior Android Developer** to join our Mobile team. ### **What will be the main challenges of this role?** * Analyze, understand, and develop solutions to address both business and technical problems within our Android applications. * Participate in design, architecture, and scalability decisions for our apps. * Own the features you work on and their end\-to\-end lifecycle—from definition with Product through to production deployment. * Write clean, maintainable, and efficient Kotlin code, following mobile development best practices. * Improve the application’s performance by identifying bottlenecks and proposing sustainable solutions. * Develop solutions that impact not only Despegar but also multiple brands and partners (Whitelabel / B2B model), with a broad product vision. * Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members. * Collaborate with cross\-functional teams (Backend, iOS, Product) to deliver integrated solutions. * Monitor app health, ensuring availability and performance. * Interest in learning new technologies and exploring AI tools to automate and improve development processes. ### **What are we looking for?** * +4 years of experience building native Android applications using Kotlin. * Solid knowledge of architectures such as Clean Architecture, MVP/MVVM, and SOLID principles. * Experience with version control systems (Git/GitHub). * Understanding of programming paradigms, data structures, and design patterns. * Experience optimizing performance, memory management, and concurrency in Android applications. * Experience with app modularization and various frameworks in the Android ecosystem. * Experience writing tests for your own code (unit tests). * Excellent problem-solving skills and an ownership mindset. ### **Nice to have:** * Experience working with WebView and JavaScript Bridge. * Knowledge of Java (the app contains a legacy portion written in Java). * Familiarity with web technologies like React (to understand the app’s web layer). * Experience with A/B testing, feature tracking, and measurement. * Experience or interest in AI tools applied to software development. * Experience building apps serving multiple brands or B2B products.
